Like many artists, I grew up enjoying drawing, coloring, and doing crafts. I never thought that the arts would become the main focus in my life. Born in 1979, I grew up in rural southern Ohio. My family were salt of the earth farmers and laborers and I was no exception. From an early age, I had my hands in the dirt, helping to plant the seeds that would sustain us throughout the year. My father worked and toiled as a farm hand and my mother worked at home, raising my brother and I. My father passed away when I was just in elementary school and my mom had to go to work to be able to support us. She worked hard so I could grow up and go to college, the first in my family to be able to do so.
I started out with a Pre-Law major in college however that didn't last long, my heart just wasn't there. I changed majors and colleges and began my studies in art education. I graduated with an art degree and my certification to teach in 2001.
I found myself working in an art supply store, while interviewing and trying to find my way into the classroom. Time went by and I continued to work my way up the ladder there and I also met my husband in 2002. I'm still at my store and using my degree every single day, though not in the traditional sense. I am happy. Art is in my work, my hobbies, and has become my life. I work hard every day to be successful in whatever I do. Working hard is in my blood and I want to make those that gave me life proud of the work that I do. I'm still planting the seeds that they taught me to sow.
I currently work in acrylics and other process oriented mixed media. My current focus has been pop art icon portraits, which I have shown in many places around Columbus.
